◆Silent sweep, no ticking. The hands glide rather than step, so it stays quiet enough for a bedroom or a room you actually work in.
◆A live edge, not a machined circle. The rim follows the irregular outline of a trunk slice and the growth rings run out from an off-centre core.
◆No glass and no frame. The face sits flat against the wall and reads as an object rather than an instrument, with only 12, 3, 6 and 9 marked.
◆Two sizes for two jobs. 14 in (34.7 cm) above a console or shelving, 16 in (39.5 cm) above a sofa or credenza where a smaller face gets lost.

The Heartwood Wall Clock is cut to look like a slice through a felled trunk. The rim follows an irregular live edge rather than a machined circle, growth rings ripple out from an off-centre core, and the outer band darkens to a bark-toned brown, so no two spots on the face read quite the same.
Two slim tapered hands in pale brushed gold sweep across the rings. There is no glass, no bezel and no frame, so the face sits flush and reads as an object on the wall rather than an instrument.
The movement is a silent sweep, which means the hands glide instead of ticking. In a bedroom or a quiet living room that is the difference between a clock you notice and one you do not. It runs on a single AA battery and hangs from one nail or hook on the back.
Two sizes. The 14 inch (36 cm) reads well above a console, a dresser or a stretch of shelving. The 16 inch (41 cm) is the one to choose above a sofa or a credenza, where a smaller face gets lost.

No. It uses a silent sweep movement, so the hands glide continuously rather than stepping once a second. It is quiet enough for a bedroom.
One AA battery, not included. Use a standard carbon battery rather than an alkaline one. Alkaline batteries push slightly more voltage than this movement is built for and can make the hands run fast or stall.
The dial is a high-density board with a detailed wood cross-section print, finished with a paper coat. It gives you the full growth-ring pattern and the irregular live edge at a fraction of the weight of a real timber slice, which also makes it far easier to hang.
The 14 inch (36 cm) suits a console table, a dresser, a stretch of shelving or a narrower stretch of wall. The 16 inch (41 cm) is the better choice above a sofa, a credenza or a dining sideboard, where a smaller face tends to look undersized against the furniture.
No. It has hour and minute hands only, which is part of why the face stays as calm as it does.
There is a single keyhole slot moulded into the back, so it goes onto one nail, screw or picture hook. No bracket or wall plate to fit.
Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.7 / 5 from 49 reviews.
Laid it out before hanging to look at the grain properly. The rings are sharp and the darker core is off to one side rather than dead centre, so it reads like an actual slice of trunk.
Hung it the day it arrived and it has not needed touching since. The live edge is what makes it, the outline is genuinely irregular rather than a circle with a bit of texture printed on.
Warmer in tone than the photos suggest, more amber than orange. It softens a plain wall without adding clutter, which is exactly the job I bought it for.
Looks great up. Worth measuring your wall first because it is smaller in person than a photo makes it seem, so if you have a big empty stretch go for the larger size.
The white numerals read clearly from right across the room, which was my main worry with a wood face. Only 12, 3, 6 and 9 are marked and it turns out that is all you need.
Very good product and it arrived faster than I expected. The clock itself is exactly as described, silent and light and easy to hang. My only comment is that the hands are quite slim, so in a dim room you have to look for a second. In normal light they read fine.
The finish is matte with a slight texture to it, not a glossy laminate. That was the detail I was most unsure about ordering online and it turned out better than expected.
Hung this in a kitchen between two runs of open shelving and it works beautifully there. The warm brown sits well against pale tile and the fact that there is no glass means no steam fogging or reflections to deal with. Easy to read while cooking and completely silent.
I ordered the smaller size for a narrow hallway wall above a console. Getting the proportion right in a hallway is difficult because too big feels overbearing in a tight space, and this is judged well. It fills the wall above the console without crowding it and the irregular edge stops it feeling severe.
Looks lovely. Only note is that no two of these will be identical because the printed slice has a specific pattern, so if you are buying two for a matched pair expect them to look the same rather than mirrored.
The silent movement is the reason I would buy this again. Our last kitchen clock ticked loudly enough that you noticed it in the evening. This one has been completely silent since the day it went up, and the hands move smoothly rather than stepping.
Two things sold me and both delivered. First, silent, and I mean actually silent rather than quiet. There is no tick and no hum, and in a bedroom that matters more than anything else about a clock. Second, the weight. It goes up on a single picture hook with no anchors and no drilling, which for a piece this size is genuinely unusual.
Looks good on the wall and does what it should. The print is a little flatter in person than the listing photos suggest, though from a normal distance you would not notice. Reasonable for what it cost.
I have wanted a wood slice clock for a while but most of them are either a perfect circle with a wood print, or genuine timber and far too heavy and expensive. This lands in between. The edge is properly irregular, the grain has real depth to it, and it weighs almost nothing so it hangs off a single hook.
Bought it for a home office and it has ended up being the thing visitors comment on. It is quiet enough that I forget it is there while working, which is exactly what you want from a clock.
I was slightly worried the grain would make the hands hard to see. It does not. The pale gold catches the light and stands off the darker centre clearly from across the room.
Replaced a plastic clock that had been irritating me for years, both because it ticked and because it looked like it belonged in a waiting room. The difference in the feel of the room is out of proportion to what this cost. Warmer, quieter, and it actually looks like something we chose.
The dots instead of numbers on the off hours keep it calm. A full set of numerals on a face this textured would have been noisy, and whoever made that decision got it right.
It is a lot lighter than it looks, which threw me for a second when I unpacked it. Once it is on the wall that becomes a good thing, because there is no strain on the fixing at all.
Very good for the money. The face is a print rather than real timber, which is clear if you look closely, but from any normal viewing distance it is convincing and it saves you a lot of weight on the wall.
Attractive clock and it is definitely silent. Mine arrived with the hands slightly out of alignment so I had to reset them by hand, which was easy enough but not what you expect straight out of the box. Fine now that it is sorted.
The 16 inch version above a dark credenza has become the anchor of that whole wall. It is big enough to hold the space without dominating it, and the warm tones pick up the wood in the furniture below without matching it exactly, which I think looks better than a perfect match would. Very happy with the choice.
Excellent clock with one small caveat worth knowing before you order. The dial is a printed wood cross-section on a board rather than a real timber slice. It is a very good print with proper depth to the rings, and honestly a real slice this size would be heavy enough to need proper wall fixings, so I understand the decision. Just do not expect solid wood at this price.
Went up in about two minutes. There is a keyhole slot on the back, so you put a nail in the wall, hook it on, done. No spirit level needed because the irregular edge means nobody can tell if it is a degree out.
Really pleased with how it looks. The only thing to be aware of is the battery note, it wants a carbon battery rather than alkaline. I put an alkaline in first out of habit and it ran fast until I swapped it.
Ordered a second one for my mother after she saw ours. Simple, warm, and it suits both a modern room and an older one, which is not something you can say about most wall clocks.
Ordered the 16 inch for above a credenza and the proportion is right. I nearly went for the smaller one and I am glad I did not, because in a room with a big piece of furniture underneath, a small clock ends up looking a bit lost.
The thing I did not expect is how well it works in the evening under lamplight. The rings catch the warm light and the whole face takes on more depth than it has during the day. It has ended up being nicer at night than in the morning, which is not something I thought about when ordering.
I spent a long time looking for a wall clock that did not look like an office clock or a novelty piece, and this is the first one that felt like a considered object. The face is a cross-section of a trunk with the growth rings running out from an off-centre core, the rim follows the live edge rather than being cut round, and there is no glass or bezel to break it up. Add a silent movement and slim brushed gold hands and the whole thing reads as intentional rather than functional.
