The Nocturne Cube Alarm Clock reads the time straight through the wood. LED digits sit behind a solid wood-grain face, so when the display is off the clock is just a clean cube on the nightstand, and when it wakes the numbers float on the surface with no screen, no bezel and no glare.
Three separate alarms can run at once, each sounding for a full minute, which covers a weekday wake-up, a reminder and a wind-down without resetting anything. Brightness steps through three levels, so it can sit bright enough to read across a room or dim enough to leave on overnight. The face also shows the date and the room temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
Sound control mode keeps it dark until you need it. The display sleeps after ten seconds and lights again at a clap or a tap on the top, which keeps a bedroom genuinely dark through the night. It runs from the included USB cable, or on three AAA batteries if you want it somewhere without an outlet.
Four finishes, all with a real matte wood grain: pale oak, warm walnut, soft chalk and deep charcoal.
